Overview

Trillian for Web is a (free) full instant messaging client for your web browser! Now anybody can sign in to any messenger from any computer and remain online even while your browser is closed, without installing software.

Any conversations that you have open on your other connected computers or mobile phones will be mirrored on Trillian for Web. While your chat history will be saved into the cloud (Trillian Pro users)
there currently is no way to view chat history from within Trillian for Web (coming soon!).

To get started, simply visit www.trillian.im in your web browser and click the sign-in link at the upper-right.

Fill in the details as shown on the screen:
1. Pick a service.
2. Enter your username on that service. Note that some services use full email addresses as usernames.
3. Enter your password for that service.
Tip: Be sure to check Automatically connect to this account at startup if you want Trillian to connect each time you sign in.
4. Click Connect.
When you go back to the chat screen, you'll see a new icon for connections using this service. Click that icon to control the individual connection, such as setting status on only that service, disconnecting or reconnecting. Each service is represented by a colored sphere, using the colors shown in the legend below:

To add a contact, simply click the (+) button in the lower-left corner of your contact list then fill in some details:

  1. The account for which you're adding the contact. You need to have an account on the same service as your contact.
  2. The contact's username. Note that some services use full email addresses.
  3. The group with which you'd like to place the added contact.
  4. Confirm by clicking the Add button.
Some services will send a Reason to the contact when you add them, requiring the contact to approve your add request. If you don't know the other person, or if you have reason to believe they won't recognize you, be sure to put something identifiable into here (e.g. "Hey Peter, it's Nina from Corporate Accounts Payable").
