AIM not working

Been two days now. Will not connect at all. 5.1 Build 19

    Same problem, watching staff post all around the issue all day

    What is the error message when Trillian fails to connect? If you click the AIM icon at the top of the buddy list and then click "Show Status Window", what does it say?

    We're having the same issue at my office - several of us have not been able to use AIM for 2+ days. server msg just says 'you have been disconnected" and then "attempting to reconnect" every few seconds. We've restarted 3x and it's still not working.

    Version 4.2 build 22 and my co-worker is using 27. I've also ried the newer one and same issue.

    This is at an office? Is there a firewall or proxy that could be blocking the connection to AIM? Are you able to connect to that account through Trillian when you are in a different location?

    No, there's nothing blocking it. We've used it for many years and all of a sudden we're having issues with the AIM connection only.

    In my case, it turned out AIM decided I had to change my password. I had one of the old 4 character passwords, and AIM phased it out without telling me. I don't use the e-mail account, so never check it. It only gets spam. Trillian should've stated the password was incorrect, but instead just wouldn't connect. When I changed my account password, it worked again

    No, that didn't work either. There are about 4 of us now that I know of that can't use it.

    I'm having similar problems with my version 4.2 build 27 on my laptop. Desktop works fine but it will not connect to either of my aim accounts, though msn and yahoo are fine. It's growing frustrating when I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times as well as verified my passwords on both accounts.

    I think I got it! I don't know if this is the same for yours or not, but on my laptop (where it's not working) I went into "Manage Connections" then selected the AIM acct not working. From there, I clicked the link for "Settings" where it has settings as "kdc.uas.aol.com" with Port number "443." When I went to my desktop (where it IS working) and followed those same steps, the settings are listed as "login.messaging.aol.com" with Port number "5190." I manually input the information from the Trillian on my Desktop into my Laptop and it works now! Simpler than that, even, is hitting the "Reset" option to the left of the Port number. I'm so happy it's working, I hope this helps you too!

    Sorry, one last thing, it's not going to connect right away after changing the information if you're logged into the aim account. Just log out of Trillian or disconnect the aim account only and log back in/connect again and you should see it working fine. (I hope!) Good luck!

    Mine has done the same thing. I am using 4.2 build 29 and cannot use the newer versions of Trillian because it doesn't do some of the things the older Trillian does. It keeps trying to sign on to aim ( I have about 17 aim accounts on trillian as well as yahoo but yahoo is working fine). It will show it trying to log in and then stop trying over and over.... I have uninstalled so many and really like this version of it so if someone could tell me how to fix the aim problem I would be sooo happy lol. Thanks! (btw - it will let 4 of my aim accounts sign on but they are always different)

    Reset button doesn't change it and I have logged into 1 of the aol accounts and the aim messenger and they both work fine.

    In that case, I would check your aim settings to see if they're the same or different from Trillian's. Other than that, I'm not sure without fiddling with it one on one.

    I checked the settings but aim is still not working - in fact when I logged out and signed back on - now none of my aim accounts will come on. Even tho I really like this version of it - I may have to find another solution. When I had downloaded the newest version my aim accounts worked - it's the older version that they don't seem to work on. I have seen so many people with the same problem you would think that there would be a simple fix for it by now :( I really like trillian - I just wish your newest version had the feature of telling which account you were recieving the message for :( Thanks for your help - and hopefully I can find a way to work around this.
