"Current Song" Function for iTunes
Hello,
After updating my iTunes, the "current song" function no longer works. Is there anything I can do to fix the problem?
Thank you.

Are you sure you're running the latest version of Trillian? This was a bug in an earlier build but was repaired. Please download the latest here:

Make sure you restart Trillian and iTunes.
If it is still not working, just let me know.

I am running the latest version. I uninstalled and re-installed trillian, updated iTunes, and restarted my computer and still no dice.

Can you please confirm what versions of Trillian and Yahoo you are using? You can see the version of Trillian if you click the "Trillian" button at the top of the buddy list and then click "Help->About".
Thanks!

I'm running version 5.1 18. I'm not sure what you mean by Yahoo, I don't use Yahoo.
Thank you for your prompt responses, by the way!

Sorry about that.... I meant iTunes (not Yahoo). We want to do some testing with your exact setup.
Thanks!

Clare,
I just replicated your installations and the "Current Song" shows as my status. Have you restarted Trillian (or your computer) since you updated iTunes?

Yes, sir. I just tried it now and I get "current song" checked off, but nothing happens beyond that. If I press "current song," it continues to show "online" or whatever but no current song.

Clare,
If you keep playing new songs, does it pick up the later ones? Ie: maybe there is an issue where it doesn't immediately grab the currently playing song when it does the first attachment?
Also, how are you playing songs in iTunes? Are you using the radio feature or maybe the iCloud feature? Or are they just simple files that you bought from the store?
Thanks!

The feature actually worked for one song yesterday and didn't work again, this was while I was using iTunes, I believe.
I've tried different methods to see if any worked- itunes and playing files on windows media player. The files are assorted (burned from CDs, itunes tracks, loose mp3s, etc).
Thanks for the continuous troubleshooting, I really appreciate it.

Ah, so you believe the issue may be with media player instead of iTunes?

No, I'm not sure where the issue is. Trillian logged one song and one song only on iTunes, then didn't log any more on iTunes. I tried another media player with the same result. So 99% of the time, it's not logging my music.

Clare,
The fact that it did show one song from iTunes shows that we are definitely attaching to it, I am not sure why it wouldn't show the others. Unfortunately I dont have any extra logging in the client to give me more information about this, however I will be adding that in a future release so that its easier to figure this type of thing out.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help at this time, let me know if you track down any other things you may think will be helpful and I'll let you know if I have any further questions.
