hi! I am a new end user for MAC OS X 10.7.4, I installed the Trilian the free MAC version in MAC, only shows IM in my account, as I general use the Trillian the free PC version at home, I can't see any gmail alert that I registered before under my account, please advise, thanks.

I don't think the answer throughout the system is suitable for my status, please advise manually, thanks.

The automated reply tries to match your question but it uses artificial intelligence. Usually, it's close, but not close enough. :)

DId your GMail account carry over to your Mac install properly? Do you see it listed in the Accounts section of Preferences? Have you locally configured Trillian to show mail in the Contact List?

hi Glenn, thanks for your reply and support. Actually I install those Gmail accounts that I got four under my trillian account, I can use smoothly in PC Windows 7, but as I install the Mac version, it only shows the Gmail Talk, and I need to right click the account button and ask me to check the email by myself, rather to check the email automatically. I tried to send a testing email to my gmail account. Please advise how to show mails to alert me automatically, thanks.

Unfortunately, the "Mail" section of the contactlist is not currently available in Trillian Core, which is the portion that's been ported away from Windows-specifically and acts as the heart of Mac OS X, Android, iPhone and Web clients.

It's on the todo list after groupchat and voice chat, so hasn't been forgotten, but at present there's no way to view the actual mail in the contactlist on Mac, if that's what you're asking for.

So, to be clear, there us currently no pop email support for mac version at all, but there will be at some future date?

I'm not certain if there's two separate questions here.

    1) There's no current Mail section in the contact list on Mac, which is the section where your mail inboxes can appear over on the Windows version. This is something on the list to add to an upcoming version, once mail sections are pulled into Core (the cross-platform version of Trillian that Mac, iPhone, Android, web et al use). In the meantime, if set up appropriately, Trillian for Mac will still show popup notices for incoming mail associated with a given IM account.

    2) There's no support for the EMAIL medium (POP3 and IMAP accounts that aren't tied to something else, as with Gmail and Google Talk) in the Mac at present, and so those accounts are simply ignored when synching accounts from the Windows client. There has not been a particular amount of demand for this on the Mac side — only for the Google Talk, MSN/Hotmail, etc. messages to show up in the contact list — so that is not currently on the upcoming list. Once the mail section support mentioned in point 1 is in place, however, it theoretically wouldn't be terribly hard to port the EMAIL medium over if there's any demand for it.

Don't really understand your answer 2 fully. Is that even in the windows version at this time?

Regardless, I think answer 1 answers my question. I just wanted to know if I will be able to check my various emails via Mac Trillian in the future, and it sounds like I will be able to.

    Thanks.

Glad that helped clear it up!

And with regards to answer #2, yes, on Windows, there is the ability to add POP3 or IMAP accounts that are just straight out email, not tied to a specific IM account (as Gmail is tied to Google Talk, or Hotmail to Windows Live Messenger, or Yahoo Mail to Yahoo).

Is there any update on IMAP account support that is nto tied to an IM account?

    Jeff,

Unfortunately, the mac version still does not have a dedicated IMAP backend yet. This is still something that is on the table and I am sorry for the prolonged delay.
