I need to have my password reset?
Support Staff 3 Posted by Kevin Kurtz on 25 Jul, 2012 01:53 PM
Mike,
You need to upgrade to the latest version of Trillian (1.4) which is available in the app store.

Mike,
Did it properly upgrade to 1.4? What is it saying? Any errors?

Password refusing to login/reset. What do I do?
8 Posted by Melfina Coen on 14 Aug, 2012 05:19 PM
I've tried to login with the every one of the 17 passwords that I use, & it's still not doing it. Has my account been deleted due to inactivity? Or is it still regged in my late younger brother's handle 'dregby4096'?

No.
I think this is Trillians way of saying you have to pay for sh*t now. They won't allow the "older" free version of Trillian to work. You have to download and pay for the latest from the app store.

Understood - & thank you. It makes sense. I'm using hacked version of Trillian now.

To keep the servers running smoothly, we had to make some changes. Unfortunately, those changes are not backwards compatible with earlier builds of Trillian. Trillian 1.4 — which is still free in the App Store — will connect fine, though some people have had password problems that the tech support team is sorting through. If you are on Snow Leopard and don't have access to the App Store, you can snag http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1126110/Trillian-1.4.0.52.zip directly as the latest non-appstore build; those are also free.
If you are on a build of Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5), however, Trillian 1.4 is not an upgrade option; Apple no longer makes it possible to use the Mountain Lion (Mac OS X 10.8) tools to build for Leopard and the Leopard tools no longer run on Lion (Mac OS X 10.7) or Mountain Lion. If you want to be in the App Store or support Mountain Lion's new 'Gatekeeper' security certificates, you can't build for Leopard off that project anymore. Trillian 1.3 and 1.4, as a result, require Snow Leopard or later. If you're on an Intel Mac running Leopard, upgrading to Snow Leopard will probably be useful in general (because Trillian is far from the only program caught in a position of having to drop Leopard support).
However, we know this isn't ideal for the handful of users still stuck on Leopard. So we are working, simultaneously with the next release, on putting out one final build of 1.2 which has the new server code but will still run on Leopard; it would lack all the features from 1.3 builds and later, because some of those use chunks of system functionality not introduced until Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6) and which wouldn't work on Leopard.
This requires taking code from the newer builds, merging it into the older one, and then rebuilding everything on a machine running a version of OS X old enough to still have the ability to compile for Leopard/PowerPC targets, so won't happen immediately, but IS in progress alongside the next build.
In the meantime, the web client is still available and works on Leopard as a fallback.
I hope that helps a bit! :)

I finally got trillian to work. Had to make a new account. I apologize for causing such a fuss.
